General Guide Gutter Guards in Bushfire Prone Areas
Gutter guards used in bushfire prone areas must be made from non-combustible material such as steel, bronze or aluminium.
According to AS3959, regardless of the prescribed Bushfire Attack Level, gutter guards are not mandatory in bush-fire prone areas – the only requirement is that they be non-combustible.

Australian Standard AS3959 General Guide
AS3959-2009 and the amendment AS3959-2009/Amdt2011 prescribe particular construction details for buildings to reduce the risk of ignition from a bushfire.
The Standard is applied to those sites where Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) meets one of six pre-determined levels: BAL-LOW, BAL-12.5, BAL-19, BAL-29, BAL-40, BAL-FZ.
The BAL measures the severity of a building’s potential exposure to ember attack, radiant heat and direct flame contact.
